Scope

This standard specifies a method for determining the grinding fineness of paints, varnishes, and printing inks using a suitable fineness plate [scaled in microns (km)]. This standard is applicable to the determination of the fineness of all types of liquid paints and varnishes and related products, but is not applicable to the determination of the fineness of products containing flake pigments (such as glass flakes, mica iron oxide and flaky zinc powder, etc.).
