Scope
This document specifies the principles of the X-ray diffraction analysis method for the mineral phase of Portland cement clinker, the calibration of the X-ray diffractometer and the confirmation of the quantitative analysis procedures, measurement steps and reports. This document is applicable to the determination of various mineral phases in Portland cement clinker [including alite (tricalcium silicate, C3S), belite (dicalcium silicate C2S), aluminate (tricalcium aluminate, C3A) , ferroaluminate (tetracalcium ferroaluminate, C4AF)], it can also determine periclase (magnesium oxide, MgO), potassium glauberite (potassium sulfate, KS), hemihydrate gypsum (calcium sulfate hemihydrate, CS·12H2O), anhydrite (calcium sulfate, CS) and calcite (calcium carbonate, CaCO3).
