T/CAIA SH002-2014 Water for drinking determination of fluoride 2-(parasulfophenylazo)-1,8-dihydroxy-3,6-naphthalene disulfonic acid, zirconium salt spectrophotometric method (English Version)
Sodium 2-(p-sulfophenyl azo)-1,8-dihydroxy-3,6-naphthalenedisulfonate (SPADNS) reacts with zirconium ions to form a red zirconium dye. In an acidic solution, fluoride ions react with the red zirconium dye and quantitatively replace the zirconium in the dye, causing the dye to fade. The degree of fading is linearly related to the fluoride ion concentration within a certain range. On a spectrophotometer, measure absorbance at a wavelength of 600 nm. Calculate the mass concentration of fluoride (in F-).
