Scope
This document specifies the energy efficiency grades, limit values and test methods of ballasts for tubular fluorescent lamps, AC electronic ballasts for single-ended electrodeless fluorescent lamps, ballasts for metal halide lamps and ballasts for high-pressure sodium lamps. This document is applicable to magnetic ballasts and electronic ballasts for tubular fluorescent lamps with a rated voltage of 220V and a frequency of 50 Hz, with a nominal power of 4 W to 120 W, and external ballasts with a rated power of 30 W to 400 W. Electronic ballasts for coupled single-ended electrodeless fluorescent lamps, with a nominal power of 20 W to 1,500 W, free-standing and built-in magnetic ballasts, electronic ballasts for metal halide lamps, with a nominal power of 70 W to 1,000 W Independent and built-in magnetic ballasts for high pressure sodium lamps. This document does not apply to electronic ballasts for non-warm-start fluorescent lamps and non-removable ballasts forming part of an integral lamp.
