- This standard specifies the terms and definitions, general requirements, technical requirements, test methods and criteria for general wide area network testing procedures. This standard applies to wide area network acceptance testing, evaluation testing, and routine maintenance related testing in terms of transmission media, equipment, performance, functions, network management functions, and environment. It can also be used for related testing in design and construction. Other types of wide area networks can be implemented by reference.
