This Part of BS 4088 specifies requirements for physical, chemical and performance properties of high-foam formulations (hereafter referred to as 'the product') to be used with water for cleaning textile floor coverings. Requirements for labelling and instructions for use are also specified.
This Part of BS 4088 does not apply to aerosol and pump-action (trigger-spray) products, nor to products designated solely for stain removal.
NOTE 1. High-foam formulations are often referred to as 'shampoos' because of their property of foam formation.
NOTE 2. Products containing additives with functions other than cleaning may conform to this Part of BS 4088. Typical additives include optical brightening agents, colourants, preservatives, antimicrobial agents, soil- and stain-resistance agents, perfume and odour neutralizing compounds.
