These requirements cover nonmetallic safety cans that have nominal capacities of 5 Imperial gallons (22.7 L) or less and that are primarily intended to store and handle fuel oil@ gasoline@ kerosene. Nonmetallic safety cans that are intended to store and handle liquid fuels other than those specified in 1.1 may be subjected to additional requirements not covered in the Standard. These requirements cover cans of two types@ designated herein as Type I and Type II.
