Scope
This standard describes general instructions for the sampling of milk or a milk product for microbiological, chemical, physical and/or organoleptic research with the aim of obtaining information about one or more properties and/or the composition of that quantity. In this standard, milk product is also understood to mean dairy product. The standard applies to the following standards: NEN 3701, NEN 3704, NEN 3744, NEN 3745, NEN 3746, NEN 3747, NEN 3751, NEN 3781 and NEN 6801. NOTE The methods of sampling milk and liquid milk products and those of milk powder for the purpose of radioactivity measurements are described in NVN 5632 and NVN 5640 respectively. The samples obtained according to the general instructions described in this standard must be regarded as "laboratory samples" as defined in NEN 1132. The described general instructions deal with the administrative rules, general requirements for equipment, tools and aids, precautions for sampling, conservation, storage and shipping of samples without providing rules regarding the number of samples that must be taken in order to make a statement with a certain reliability about egg properties and/or composition of the quantity to be sampled.
