This standard specifies the high-performance liquid chromatography method for the determination of trigonelline, chlorogenic acid and caffeine in coffee. This standard is applicable to the simultaneous determination of trigonelline, chlorogenic acid and caffeine in coffee such as green coffee, roasted coffee and instant coffee, as well as in solid and liquid beverage products. The detection limits of this method are: trigonelline 0.50 mg/kg, chlorogenic acid 0.70 mg/kg, and caffeine 0.50 mg/kg. The quantitation limits of this method are: trigonelline 1.50 mg/kg, chlorogenic acid 2.00 mg/kg, and caffeine 1.50 mg/kg.
