- This standard specifies a method for determining the molding shrinkage and shrinkage after heat treatment of samples of thermosetting molding materials. These characteristics are useful for production control and inspection of production uniformity of thermoset materials. In addition, understanding the initial shrinkage of a thermoset material is important for mold construction, and understanding the post-shrinkage is important for determining whether a molding material is suitable for making dimensionally accurate molded parts. This standard applies to thermosetting molding materials.
