This document describes a method for the determination of the transient extensional viscosity of uniaxially stretched polymer melts under conditions of constant strain rate and constant temperature. This document applies to Hencky strain rates between 0.01s-1 and 1s-1, Hencky strains up to 4, temperatures up to 250°C (see Note 1 and Note 2), and measured values between 104 Pa·s~107 Pa·s Determination of transient extensional viscosity of polymer melt between s (see Note 3). Note 1: Use Hencky strain and strain rate (see Chapter 3). Note 2: Strain, strain rate and temperature may exceed these limit values. Note 3: For the minimum measurable transient extensional viscosity, the operating limit of the instrument is determined by a variety of factors, including the ability of the sample to maintain its shape during the test and the resolution of the instrument.
