This standard specifies the general requirements for sensory analysis, and introduces various testing methods and statistical techniques for analyzing test results. This standard is applicable to sensory analysis of samples in the laboratory, especially for sensory analysis of food. This standard generally does not apply to consumer preference testing. Methods that are also applicable to the test of preference are indicated in the corresponding clauses.
