Scope: This standard specifies the terms and definitions, usage conditions, basic requirements, technical requirements, inspection methods, inspection rules, markings, packaging and quality commitments of power capacitors for induction heating devices (referred to as: electrothermal capacitors). This standard applies to controllable or adjustable AC voltage systems with a nominal voltage not greater than 5.0 kV and a frequency above 50 Hz and below 20 kHz, and is specifically used to improve the power quality of induction heating, melting, stirring or casting devices. All described in this standard are full film dielectric capacitors. This standard does not apply to the following capacitors: a) Series capacitors for power systems; b) Capacitors for motors and the like; c) Coupling capacitors and capacitor dividers; d) Capacitors for AC power systems with a nominal voltage of 1 kV and below. Self-healing shunt capacitors; e) Parallel capacitors for AC power systems with nominal voltages above 1 kV; f) Non-self-healing shunt capacitors for AC power systems with nominal voltages 1 kV and below; g) Small AC capacitors for fluorescent lamps and discharge lamps ; h) Capacitors for power electronic circuits; i) Capacitors for microwave ovens; j) Capacitors for suppressing radio interference; k) Capacitors intended to be used under AC voltage superimposed with DC voltage.
