Scope

This standard specifies the purge and trap/gas chromatography-mass spectrometry method for the determination of methyl tert-butyl ether in water. This standard applies to the determination of methyl tert-butyl ether in surface water, groundwater, seawater and wastewater. When the water sample volume is 5.0 mL, the detection limit of methyl tert-butyl ether is 0.2 ug/L, and the lower determination limit is 0.8 ug/L.
