This document specifies a method for determining the hydrogen content on the surface of polyethylene terephthalate (PET) using X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and coupled equipment reflection electron energy loss spectroscopy (REELS). This document is applicable to the surface composition analysis of PET materials with a relative atomic percentage of hydrogen in the range of 30% to 50%.
