This document specifies the terms and definitions of foods rich in organic selenium, Selenium content requirements, testing methods and labeling requirements. This document applies to organic selenium-rich foods grown (cultured), grown in selenium-containing soil, or produced through biological conversion and other measures. This document does not apply to fortified foods with selenium added during processing and foods prepared with selenium sources obtained through intensive processing techniques (such as extraction, pressing, etc.). This standard replaces DBS42/002-2014 Food Safety Local Standard Selenium Content Requirements for Foods Rich in Organic Selenium.
