BS EN IEC 61169 is a series on radio-frequency connectors. An RF connector (radio frequency connector) is an electrical connector designed to work at radio frequencies in the multi-megahertz range. Radio-frequency connectors are typically used with coaxial cables and are designed to maintain the shielding that the coaxial design offers. BS EN IEC 61169 ‑ 1 ‑ 2 provides test methods for the insertion loss of radio-frequency connectors.
BS EN IEC 61169 ‑ 1 ‑ 2 is applicable to cable RF connectors, microstrip RF connectors and RF connector adapters. BS EN IEC 61169 ‑ 1 ‑ 2 is also applicable to RF channels in multi-RF channel connectors and hybrid connectors which contain any combination of coaxial contact, optical fibres contact, and current-carrying electrical contact element.
