This standard specifies the general requirements that must be met by rubber seals used in flat plate solar collectors, except for those passive collectors installed vertically. Some particular applications may require other requirements that may take precedence over those specified here. 2 Design requirements relate solely to the allowable deflection of rubber during thermal expansion or contraction of the seal in use and tolerances in the dimensions of molded and extruded seals. 3 This standard does not include requirements regarding the manufacture or installation of seals. 4 The values established in units of the International System are mandatory.
