Scope
This standard covers the test method for rapidly evaluating the oxidation stability of new insulating oils containing 2,6 diiso butyl paracresol. This test is used to check the oxidation stability of new insulating oils containing 2,6 diiso butyl paracresol or 2,6 diiso butyl phenol, or both at the same time, and to control compliance with this property in successive shipments. The applicability of this standard for inhibited insulating oils with a viscosity at 40 °C (100 °F) greater than 12 cSt (65 SUS) has not yet been established. The materials, operations and equipment used in the application of the standard may present risks. This standard is not intended to point out all the industrial safety problems related to its application. The user of the standard has the responsibility of establishing, before using it, the appropriate industrial safety and occupational health conditions and, likewise, applying the current legislation in this regard. The mandatory warnings that are part of this standard, specifically, are indicated in section 6.2.1. NOTE 1 In test method ASTM O 2272, the same procedures and apparatus indicated in this standard are followed. Only the test temperature is modified, which is higher than 150 °C
