Scope

This standard specifies the classification of oil and gas geological maps (hereinafter referred to as maps), the classification and codes of graphic elements, projection systems, elevation systems and coordinate systems, preparation specifications, map formats and graphic element illustrations. This standard applies to the preparation and drawing of various types of maps in the petroleum and natural gas geology profession.
