1.1 These requirements specified in this standard apply to battery chargers with a rated voltage equal to or less than 600V according to the National Electrical Code of the United States and intended for use in household or commercial applications for charging rechargeable batteries. 1.2 These requirements apply to portable and stationary battery chargers for indoor and outdoor use, as well as stationary battery chargers for indoor use, for charging automotive batteries or non-automotive batteries. 1.3 Whether a battery charger that cannot be a complete device, or a battery charger that depends on the way it is installed in the final product, meets the requirements of this standard shall be assessed according to the requirements of this standard and the standards of the final product. 1. 4 The battery charger used with the internal combustion engine driving the centrifugal ignition pump shall be assessed according to the requirements of this standard and the applicable requirements of the final product. 1.5 These requirements do not apply to battery chargers used in motorboat or motorboat marinas or other marine product applications (other than battery chargers intended to be permanently installed on motorboats), nor to battery chargers used in fire alarm signaling installations, or A device or system that uses a battery charger.
