1.1 This standard specifies the inspection process for the operating characteristics of X-ray photoelectron spectrometers such as signal-to-background ratio, resolution, short-term voltage stability, transmission characteristics, and energy coordinate linearity. 1.2 This standard applies to spectrometers whose energy channels are digital counting and storage. 1.3 This standard is intended to supplement the calibration procedures proposed by the instrument manufacturer. It cannot be used as a basis for performance comparison between different instruments. It can only be used as an autonomous check of the working characteristics of a certain spectrometer. 1.4 Use of this standard may involve hazardous operations, equipment and substances. However, this standard does not address all relevant safety issues. Before using this standard, users should establish appropriate safety and health measures and determine the scope of application of this standard.
