This standard specifies the penetrant testing method for determining the acceptance limit of surface discontinuity at the request of the buyer and when there is a testing procedure agreed in the contract. This standard is applicable to the penetrating testing of steel castings produced by various casting methods. Note: Like all non-destructive testing methods, this standard forms part of the general assessment or special assessment specified in the contract.
