Scope
This standard gives the definition and measurement methods of the electrical characteristics of satellite communication earth station antennas operating at frequencies above 1 GHz. This method can be used for the measurement of reflector-type antennas used for digital and analog signal transmission. The purpose of the measurement is mainly to determine whether the performance of the earth station antenna complies with the requirements generally determined by satellite system providers in accordance with the Radio Regulations and applicable international standards (such as ITU-R Recommendations S.465-5, 5.580-5, S.731, S.732 and S.733-1). Measurement procedures are usually specified by the International Satellite Services Organization. Unless otherwise specified, measurements are made with all antenna subsystem equipment connected.
