- This standard specifies the limits of errored seconds (ES) and severely errored seconds (SES) of data transmission links and systems, the principles of limit distribution and the period of limit measurement. The performance limits described in this standard are the basis for all digital measurements associated with international data transmission links and systems. This performance limit applies to data transmission links and systems with data transmission rates lower than primary group, primary group and above, and also applies to international leased circuits supported by the international data transmission system and with digital interfaces at the user end. The performance limits of this standard do not represent design specifications.
