Scope
This document specifies a method for the determination of residual monomers and other volatile low-molecular-weight compounds in raw rubber by thermal desorption (dynamic headspace)-capillary column gas chromatography, and includes general sections applicable to all types of raw rubber and two appendices for specific types of rubber. The advantage of this method is that no solvent is needed, and the volatile compounds can be concentrated and accurately introduced into the gas chromatograph. This document is applicable to the determination of residual monomers, solvents and other low molecular weight compounds with boiling point range between C4~C12 hydrocarbons in raw rubber. Note: The detection limit of this method is 1 μg/g.
