Scope: This standard specifies the technical requirements, test methods, inspection rules and marking, packaging, transportation, storage and other requirements for portable proton magnetometers (hereinafter referred to as magnetometers). This standard applies to various portable proton magnetometers that measure the absolute value and gradient value of the total magnetic field strength of the geomagnetic field (referred to as the total geomagnetic field). This standard is the common technical basis for the design, manufacture, use and inspection of this type of magnetometer products, and is also the basis for formulating corresponding specific product standards. Product standards should include the specific requirements specified in this standard and other supplementary requirements.
