This standard specifies the general requirements for instruments, samples, reference materials, test procedures and result calculations for thermal analysis methods that use differential thermal analyzers (or differential scanning calorimeters) to evaluate the isothermal stability of substances. This standard is applicable to the evaluation of the isothermal stability of solid, liquid or slurry substances with exothermic effects above 320K in an inert or reactive atmosphere. The test results can be used as the basis for fire cause assessment, but the actual fire scene materials should be specifically analyzed.
