This standard specifies the specimen shape, test equipment, test procedures, and the processing and expression of test results for constant-amplitude axial fatigue tests on metallic materials subjected to any type of cyclic stress shown in Figure 1. This standard is applicable to constant-amplitude fatigue tests under controlled load in room temperature air to determine the axial fatigue strength of materials under the condition that the elastic strain component dominates during the entire test process. The relationship between the stress on the sample and time is generally a sine wave, but other waveforms such as trapezoidal waves, triangle waves, and square waves can also be used. But it must be stated.
