This standard specifies a rapid microbial sensor method for determining the biochemical oxygen demand (BOD) of water and sewage. The biochemical oxygen demand specified in this standard refers to the amount of dissolved oxygen consumed by dissolved biodegradable organic matter in water and sewage under the action of microorganisms. This method is suitable for the determination of BOD in surface water, domestic sewage and industrial wastewater that does not contain obvious toxic effects on microorganisms.
