- This standard specifies the flaw detection method and defect grade classification using the Type A pulse reflection ultrasonic flaw detector. This standard applies to ultrasonic flaw detection of compressor cast steel parts and other similar castings. This standard does not apply to ultrasonic flaw detection of steel castings made of coarse-grained materials such as austenitic stainless steel.
