- This standard specifies the metallographic examination method for carbon content on the carburized surface of heavy-duty gears. This standard applies to 20CrMnTi, 20CrMnMo, 20CrNi2Mo, 12CrNi3Mo, 15CrNi3Mo, 20Cr2Ni4 and other steel parts. Other steel types can be implemented by reference. This standard is a metallographic method for controlling the carbon content on the surface of parts during the carburizing process. Unqualified parts are discovered during the heat treatment process so that process parameters can be adjusted in a timely manner to ensure product quality.
