Scope

This part of GB/T 20624 specifies the test method for using a spherical punch with a diameter of 12.7 mm or 15.9 mm to impact the coating and substrate to cause rapid deformation and to evaluate the deformation results. Note: The term "impact resistance" is included in the title of this standard, but an important feature of the instrument used is that it will cause rapid deformation rather than a true impact. When numerical results are used, the reproducibility of this test method is poor, so the test is limited to the same laboratory. The consistency of experiments can be improved by using ratings instead of numerical results.
