- This standard specifies the definition, classification, requirements, test methods, inspection rules, marking, packaging, transportation and storage of ground resistance meters. This standard applies to direct-acting analog display ground resistance meters used in general industry to measure ground resistance below 1000Ω. This standard also applies to earth resistance meters with analog display and electronic measuring circuits. This standard does not apply to: digital ground resistance meters; instruments for measuring ground resistance that are used for special purposes and whose requirements are different from those specified in this standard (such as explosion-proof ground resistance meters).
