Scope

This part of GB/T231 specifies the principle, symbols and descriptions, test equipment, samples, test procedures, uncertainty of results and test report of Brinell hardness test for metallic materials. This section applies to fixed Brinell hardness testers and portable Brinell hardness testers. For the Brinell hardness test of special materials or products, please refer to GB/T9097 and this part.
