Scope

This standard is applicable to the inspection and evaluation of surface opening defects in storage tanks and pipelines. Penetration testing of storage tanks includes the tank body and accessories connected to the tank body. Pipeline penetration testing is suitable for pipelines transporting crude oil, refined oil, natural gas, liquefied petroleum gas and other media (including oilfield water injection and gas injection pipelines). This standard uses a penetrant testing method that combines solvent-removing colored penetrants and quick-drying developers. If other penetrant detection methods are used, comparative tests should be conducted, and the detection sensitivity shall not be lower than that specified in this standard.
