Scope

This standard specifies the requirements for suction catheters made of plastic for use in the respiratory tract. Special suction catheters are not included in the scope of this standard. Suction catheters with curved heads (such as Coudé catheters) are not considered to be special suction guides. Therefore it is included within the scope of this standard.
