Scope

This standard specifies the requirements for ultrasonic flaw detection of integral thin-walled ductile iron pistons, flaw detection instruments, flaw detection processes and acceptance specifications. This standard is applicable to the ultrasonic flaw detection inspection of internal casting defects on the top and arc surface of new integral thin-walled ductile iron pistons of the 240 diesel engine for diesel locomotives.
