- Scope
- This standard specifies the test method for the acid value of petroleum products or lubricating oils that can be almost completely soluble in toluene/isopropyl alcohol. It is suitable for acids with a water dissociation constant greater than 10-9; it is not suitable for weak acids with a water dissociation constant less than 10-9. It will cause interference. If the water dissociation constant is greater than 10-9, a salt reaction will occur. The accurate range of measurable acid value is between 0.1 mg/gKOH and 150 mg/gKOH.
