Scope

This standard specifies the method for measuring the tear strength of paper using the Elendorf tear strength testing machine, which is applicable to paper or cardboard with a tear strength below 1000 mN {102 gf}. However, if the number of test pieces is reduced, it can also be applied to high tear strength cardboard of about 4000 mN {408 gf}. Note: The values and units in {} in this standard use the customary CGS unit system.
