Scope

This method is used to determine the viscosity of transparent and opaque petroleum products (Note: (1), Note: (2)). It uses the gravity-flow of the liquid itself to determine a certain value at a known temperature. The time required for a volume of liquid to pass through a calibrated capillary glass viscometer can be calculated from the measured dynamic viscosity.
