- 1.1 This standard is applicable to the determination of the purity of aldehydes or ketones. 1.2 In addition to all aldehydes and ketones, other compounds such as hydrocarbyl vinyl ethers, acetals and ketals are hydrolyzed during the reaction to form free carbonyl groups, which can interact with reagents and cause interference. Although water, alcohols, saturated esters and hydrocarbons do not react with reagents, a large amount of inert organic solvents should be avoided, which may affect the indicator.
