- This standard specifies the test method for determining the volume specific gravity and density of compacted asphalt mixtures using paraffin-covered specimens. Remarks 1: The definition of volume specific gravity is in accordance with the provisions of Section 5 of CNS 487 [Test Method for Specific Gravity and Water Absorption of Fine Granular Materials]. 2: The volume specific gravity of compacted asphalt mixture can also be used to determine the unit mass of asphalt mixture.
