Scope
This standard stipulates that when the standard deviation of two independent groups is unknown, the measured value drawn from the group (or a relatively representative batch) shall be used as the criterion. Under a certain probability such as 95%, the interval of the group average is found (Note 1) method. Note: (1) This interval is determined by the upper and lower limits of trust and is called the trust interval. (2) This method is applicable to the standard deviation of characteristic values of products constituting a batch.
