GB/T 40367-2021 Plastics—Determination of the aerobic biodegradation of non-floating materials exposed to marine sediment—Method by analysis of evolved carbon dioxide (English Version)
This document describes a laboratory method for determining the extent and rate of aerobic biodegradation of plastic materials. This test method is also applicable to other solid materials. The degree of biodegradation was obtained by measuring the release of carbon dioxide from exposure of plastic materials to marine sediments sampled from sandy intertidal zones and moistened with saline under laboratory conditions. This test method is to simulate the sandy intertidal habitat environment under laboratory conditions. The sandy intertidal zone is called near-shore shallow kelp in marine science. The conditions described in this document may not always correspond to the optimum conditions for maximum biodegradation to occur. Deviations from the test conditions described in this document shall be stated in the test report.
