Scope
This standard specifies the zinc content determination method (using polarographic method) for new lubricating oils and lubricating oil additives with a zinc content not exceeding 2%. Because cadmium is used as a comparison ion (), this metal will cause interference and Must be removed. Note: Although this method can also be used to determine samples with zinc content up to 8%, it still has considerable accuracy. However, once the zinc content exceeds 2%, this product has been declared commercially suitable.
