Scope

This standard specifies a test method for using a spring-driven steel hammer to impact the hardened concrete surface to determine its rebound value. The measured rebound number can be used to evaluate the uniformity of concrete and its rough transition, and serve as a reference for determining the time to remove the formwork (1). However, this test method cannot be used as a substitute method for evaluating the strength of concrete. Note: (1) Used to describe the general scope of poor concrete quality or structural mix.
