- This standard specifies the testing method for determining the degree of wear resistance of coatings and buffer layers applied to optical fibers by standard friction. This test can be used to evaluate the CNS__ [Common Specification for Optical Fibers] covering all optical fiber coatings and buffers. This test does not determine whether the coating is the best, because the best should be determined by a combination of multiple characteristics. This test is not used to determine the consistency of coatings and buffer layers.
