- 1.1 This standard specifies a method for determining the amount of residual carbon left behind after evaporation or cracking of oil samples under certain conditions. This value can be used as an indicator of the coking tendency of these substances. 1.2 This test result is equivalent to CNS 3383 [Connell carbon residue determination method for petroleum products]. Note: This step is modified from the original method and equipment for measuring the residual carbon content of petroleum substances, and has been certified.
