This standard specifies a simulation test method for the emission of lead and cadmium from glass and glass-ceramic articles likely to be used in contact with food and beverages. The method is applicable to glass and vitro-ceramic articles used for the preparation, serving and preservation of food. It does not necessarily apply to soda-lime or borosilicate glass articles that are not varnished or decorated on the surface in contact with food; It also does not apply to glass-ceramic articles that are not varnished or decorated on the surface in contact with food. It is not applicable to articles with vitrified glaze or ceramic articles.
